The Svenskarnas Dag Girls Choir

The Svenskarnas Dag Girls Choir was organized in 1967 to preserve and celebrate Swedish heritage and culture through music and song.

The Choir has had many opportunities to perform in a variety of plaes and for a variety of functions. They have sung in: Churches, nursing homes, ethnic festivals, parks, banks, colleges and hotels. Each year, the Svenskarnas Dag Girls Choir are part of the festivities at Minnehaha Park for the annual Svenskarnas Cag celebration. Besides appearing in concerts throughout Minnesota, the Choir has sung at the Hyllnings Fest in Lindsborg, KS; Swedish Day in Geneva, IL and Epcot Center and Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Orlando, FL.

The Choir has had the unique opportunity to tour Sweden every 3-4 years, enabling them to meet and get to know the peple of Sweden and see the beauty of the land they sing about. They are a group of Goodwill Ambassadors representing Svenskarnas Dag and the State of Minnesota. The choir has a repertoire that includes Swedish folk songs, classics, sacred numbers and some American songs sung in Swedish and English. The Christmas program includes an authentic Lucia program.
